Next Comp – this Saturday 4th July 09

July 1, 2009

Hi Skeggettes

Just a reminder that our next comp is this Saturday 4th July down at Bondi Beach. We were planning to have our mid season BBQ after the comp but it looks like the weather is not going to be kind to us. Hence, we’ll keep it spontaneous and if it turns out ok maybe we can have an ‘post comp’ team surf. We had one on the soft boards from LGS after the last one and it was a hoot! See ya satdee xx

Not the long weekend – June comp 09

May 27, 2009

Hi surf chickettes
Just a reminder that the June comp will be held on Saturday 13th June because Milo and Karen need all day to get ready for the P!nk concert on the 6th June….oh yes, and also it’s a long weekend and we don’t hold comps on long weekends.

Next Competition – Saturday 2nd May

April 24, 2009

Hey dudettes
Just a reminder that our next comp is on Saturday 2nd May. We were planning to have a BBQ after the comp but I’ve been slack and haven’t organised it so we’ll aim for after the June comp.

Good surf this weekend – if you get slotted let us know on the blog!

Later. Rad Mad.

Surfboard for sale – $100 – recommended for intermediate surfer

April 24, 2009

Versatile board – Tiki brand – a unique hybrid between a fish and a gun.

7 foot long, just under 20 inches wide. Moves quite fast, turns well. I actually learnt to surf on this board, and did fine when I was going out a lot. Then I went back and bought a fatter, longer board for an easier ride. If I wasn’t going away, I would hang onto it to use again. But the board must go as I’m packing up my house in two months time. A few people like Nell have ridden this board and can vouch for it as well. It had a ding on the nose when I bought it, and with me copped one on the side, but everything has been perfectly repaired, and thoroughly gone over by the Ding Doctor. It’s in great shape, and comes with a bag.

April Comp this Saturday 4th April 09!

April 2, 2009

Hi bloggettes

Just a reminder that the second comp of the season is this Saturday 4th April.  Looks like we are going to have a decent swell with northerlies in the morning before a southerly change late morning.  Make sure you turn up bright and early so we can make the best of the conditions.  Also note that we’ve decided not to continue with the soft board division.  The committee decided that it takes too long and it’s too hard to judge – but it was fun whilst it lasted!  If you don’t like this decision why don’t you join the committee – it’s a great chance to (a) get power (b) boss people around (c) make important decisions that affect other people’s lives and (d) influence how we run our club.

Festival of the Surf Part III

March 18, 2009

bgsr-collage-interclub-09

Well, how cool was Saturday? More than a surf comp, the Bondi Interclub Challenge with BGSR and BB was an anthropological exercise in the difference between the sexes. Fascinating to see all the girls turn up on time and all the boys, ummm.. turn up eventually. And the rig! Who would have thought you need a spirit level to set up a judging stand? Come to think of it, who would’ve thought you needed a judging stand? But Saturday also showed what we have in common. Surfing, surfing and, yep, music. Thanks to Matt Dirt on the decks and Huey and his mates for the waves, sun and keeping the thunder storm at bay until we had wrapped up. Especially, thanks to all those who turned up to support, all those who worked tirelessly all day and all those who competed. The champions were Milo and Wal – first. And Suzy and Brett – second. And what about those trophies? The kids loved them!

But wait there’s more…Come down this Saturday to support BGSR’s Alissa, Vic and the boys from Bondi Boardriders in the Frothers Buckler to Bra. Read the rest of this entry »

So You Think You Can Surf?

March 3, 2009

Okay, so you don’t get to wear some really tacky costumes with sequins and polyester, but if you want to be in a surf-off against the other east-side clubs (apart from our very own BGSR – slightly contentious issue, but let’s not go there), here is your chance. Bondi Boardriders are looking for one, and one only, super-duper surfing female contestant (I’m sure they’d have more if rules allowed, but they don’t), to compete with them in the Frothers Buckler to Bra Tag Team Surfing Competition to be held at Bondi Beach on 21st March. (Didn’t we tell you that March was the Festival of the Surf?)

So, after you’ve ripped in the BGSR March comp. After you’ve sliced and diced your way through to the top at the BGSR and BB Interclub. Then you may be ready to take on the whole of the South Shore.
BB will put you in with their very best surfer so the chances of winning prizes (and did I hear someone say, money?), are not too shabby.

But don’t contact us. Contact Beau. He is the Prez of BB and his number is 0418 242 155. Or throw him an email. Good luck and we’ll be there to support you on the day.
