After a fab midday surf, it was on to the business end of the day and what we have all been working towards all year, the 2011 Awards Presentation and Party
Thanks to Shanno, who generously hosted the ‘Jungle Party Presentation’ in her backyard last Saturday, we had the perfect backdrop to continue on from the Midday surfing shennanigans.
Thanks to Jade McManus, we had a marquee. This insured that no matter what mother nature served up, we would still have a party. As predicted the rains came down hard for a good 12 hours so cheers to Jade for being so clever and having the foresight to do the hard work the night before.
The guests arrived dressed up in jungle costumes and the Jungle Juice flowed, keeping the tribe well hydrated and jolly. Olivia as MC kept us all on the edge of our seats as we all secretly hoped we would win one of the fantastic trophies Michelle Granger made for us.
Part of the presentations included a speach/poem or song presented from each grade to sum up 2011. Sarah Shannon sang a song on behalf of the adult beginners to get us all laughing and feeling good about ouselves. Brenda’s poem on behalf of the Longboard Ladies was a hoot and the Int A’s was a personal account from Sophie K, Kaz and myself about what the BGSR family has meant to us for the past 10+ years.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me to receive this fantastic award. I am just a small part of a fantastic committee and everyone worked very hard this year to make it a great success. I am so humbled and proud to have recieved this award for 2011 and encourage anyone who would like to get involved in the running of club to join us. We have so much fun and the rewards far outweigh the efforts we collectively put in. Cheers Kim.
BEST COSTUME – Jade McManus who came dressed as a gorgeous Toucan took home a firefighters calender for her efforts. She was so excited with her prize as was Shanno. In fact, I saw the two of them later having a tug of war with it, both wanting to take it home. I hear it now has pride of place in Jade’s loo.
