Update from Kelsta

30 Nov
Hi Everyone, Kelly asked that I send this on to everyone – Emma
“Hola chicks!
How the hell have you girls been?! Catching waves, planning big parties, soaking up the summer sun and getting up to no good I suppose =) I finally made it back to Florida after a 4-month long journey, and I have to say, it feels pretty good…except for that part where I think of you girls and Sydney and BGSR and how I’m missing out on all that good fun! I’ve been super slack on getting back to some of you via facebook, so I thought I would give all interested a wee lil’ update (and I definitely expect a few updates from you girls and the club too =)
The trip started off with a few fantastic weeks of fun with good ol’ Liv and friends on a boat trip through Indo. Just couldnt get away from those crazy Aussies =)  I ended up staying in Nusa Lembongan for the rest of the month, happily diving, surfing and eating Nasi Goreng everyday. I really cant wait to get back to Indo already!
Moved along to Sri Lanka, explored the temples in the jungles and then the infamous A-Bay on the East coast. Interesting place…takes 8 hours to get there from Columbo by car, through jungle and then a 40+ degree desert, while being stopped by military-machinegun-holding-men every 30 minutes. Beautiful little spot though, full of sand dunes and a tiny village. Wild elephants, water buffalo and crocs around the corner, super super warm water and surfers from all over the world (Israelis, Spaniards, Italians…and of course your resident Australians). A bit strange to travel there as a girl by yourself, so I recommend that you bring someone along with you if you go. Sri Lanka is full of amazing people, hardly any tourists, really untouched, and best of all…right next to the Maldives! But travel there soon before it is spoiled, as now that the civil war has just ended, the govt is pumping money into tourism like crazy.
Europe was next on the list. A little river surfing in the Eisbach River in the center of the city in Munich, Germany (where I snapped my first board!) Video footage available. A little Alpine hiking in the Austrian glacier peaks. Then a lot of Bavarian castle touring and beer drinking before I moved onto camping and surfing in South France. Never did run into that crazy mad surfer chick they call ‘Mads’ in South France in September, but did meet some fun Frenchies in the surf and at the campgrounds, hiked around massive sand dunes, scored some good beach breaks, tried my hardest to get barrelled and ate the best frommage and baguettes everyday. Then we moved onto the mullet and rat-tail land of Spain. Surfed the northcoast of Spain, beautiful spot near Mundaka called Lagos. Never did get to see Mundaka working (but hey, neither did the Billabong Pro!), gorgeous spot none-the-less. Drove through Spain right through to Morocco. Let camels spit on us, bargained at the markets and slept under the stars in the Sahara. Perfection.
But now, back in Florida, Kelly Slater and wind swell territory. Supposedly just missed Slater’s tight butt in that white wetsuit at the Sebastian inlet the other day =(  Now I’m looking for that thing called a J-O-B and desperately missing the beaches, swell and BGSR in Australia! Spending some time at home for now, might try out Southern California with some friends, and will keep you posted on my path back to Oz (as I definitely will be back!)
Im looking forward to some good stories and photos from the infamous BGSR December bash coming up! I hope everyone is well, scoring waves and enjoying life! Send me updates. Missing you girls so much!
